Another celebration of success, the Province of Davao Occidental celebrated its 2nd founding anniversary last October 23, 2017 in the Municipality of Malita. The Southern Philippines Agri-business, Marine and Aquatic School of Technology is now considered as the only state college of the newly created province. Hence, this academic institution also engaged itself in the celebration with all the cooperation of the administration, faculty and staff. SPAMAST’s involvement to the communities’ affairs reflected the strong bind between the institution and its stakeholders. Thus, it has actively participated during the Agri-Trade Fair and Sa Banwa Entertainment Center with the theme “Palig-on, Pag-uswag ug kalinaw: Fostering Partnering to Strengthen Community Development and Lasting Peace” held at Barangay Felis, Malita, Davao Occidental. During the said trade fair, SPAMAST with the supervision of the Research and Extension Coordinators in Malita Campus, Prof. Elcir Doanne Escalante and Prof. Jopy Caneda with the teamwork of the students from the three institutes: Institute of Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurial Studies (IATES), Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (IFMS) and the Institute of Teacher Education and Information Technology (ITEIT), they had displayed original products made from vegetables, seaweeds and fish products. Students prepared and offered calamansi nip, pastillas de malunggay, pastillas de alugbati, peanut butter, tilanggit, and banggus siomai for the visitors. The said agri-trade fair exhibits showcased the different products of SPAMAST, its processes and used through pictures and tarpaulins. Indeed, Davao Occidental recognized the Institution for this promising effort. –Sheena Love Estilloso
