Gaginaway is an annual festival celebrated by the Malitaneos during full moon in November which happened during the festivity of 80thAraw ng Malita dated November 17, 2017. Gaginaway means “panagtapok” or “love” that native people in Malita had shown as they gathered to commemorate the richness of its culture and traditions; the Tagakaulo, Blaan, Manobo and Muslim tribes. SPAMAST joined the torch parade as an opening of the Gaginaway Festival. As part of the municipality, SPAMAST students, faculty and staff showcased a dance presentation during the academe nights together with the Department of Education Teachers from the different schools in Malita last November 14, 2017 held at the Public Market. The said talents were also exposed during the Women’s Association in Malita (WAM) nightly program held last November 16, 2017. All of the employees were encouraged to attend the parade followed by the culmination program of the 80th Araw ng Davao Occidental celebration held at the newly constructed Municipal Gymnasium.- Sheena Love Estilloso
