SPAMAST food processing facility to develop local products

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine And Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao Occidental have formalized its partnership for the operation of an expanded post-harvest processing facility funded under DTI’s Shared Service Facility (SSF) Program. SPAMAST President Dr. Ruth Lucero and DTI Davao Occidental Provincial Director Maria Joycelyn Banlasan have sealed this partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and usufruct during today’s SSF launching ceremony at SPAMAST campus in Malita. The SSF program has paved way for the provision of machineries and equipment worth P483,000.00, to improve the existing post-harvest processing facility of SPAMAST. The facility intends to develop new and innovative products out of fish and other aquatic and agri-fish based resources in the province, such as tilanggit (dried marinated tilapia), fermented fish, and canned/bottled fish products. The facility also aims to assist people’s organizations, MSMEs (macro, small and medium enterprises) and other stakeholders in their product improvement and development endeavour.
