Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences

The Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences provides quality higher education in Aquaculture, Capture Fisheries, Post Harvest, Aquatic Resources and Ecology and Marine Sciences through two major courses; Bachelor of Science Major in Fisheries and Bachelor of Science Major in Marine Biology. These programs provide the students with the knowledge base, skill sets and hands-on experience to be highly competitive in obtaining positions within the state, and non-governmental fisheries, marine and natural resources conservation and management agencies in the Philippines and abroad.

BACHELOR AND DIPLOMA PROGRAMS

Bachelor of Science in Fisheries – A four year program focusing on aquaculture, capture fisheries, post harvest and aquatic resources and ecology. Graduates of this program are trained and prepared for the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Technologists. They are also added to the Fisheries workforce both in the government and the private sector.
Diploma in Fisheries Technology – A simplified three year course in fisheries, putting emphasis on the application skills of aquaculture, capture fisheries, post harvest and aquatic resources and ecology.

The Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, SPAMAST-Malita Campus celebrates the success of its takers of the recently conducted Fisheries Technologist Licensure Examination. Six (6) out of fourteen (14) takers were able to successfully pass the licensure, with an overall performance of 42.86% (Institutional Passing Rate) and 34.24% (National Passing Rate).

The Board of Fisheries conducts the annual Fisheries Technologist Licensure Examination. For this year, October 2017, there are 1,399 examinees, 479 of which successfully passed the examination. The result was released at the PRC website last November 6, 2017. The examination was given by the members of the Board of Fisheries; Chairman, Westly R. Rosario and Member, Catalino R. Dela Cruz.
